That is how crooked the floor was. I have heard that concrete never stops curing. I would put one column in between each of the existing columns.
The center of the beam towards the middle of the house was about an inch lower than the ends at the foundation. I smoothed it out real nice.
BTW, thanks for your post. I decided to put in three additional footings and columns, this time to maximum code compliance. The cement calls for a cure time of 7 days for a psi compressive strength and a 28 day cure time for the full psi compressive strength.
I like the way you overengineer things — a professional probably would not do that. The adjustment plate mounts to the bottom of the column. Align the beam and adjustment plates so they are square. I only needed new permanent support columns. The form took a total of 7 bags.
Once the adjustment screws are tightened, the adjustment plate lifts the column into place for final installation. The gap between the adjustment columh and bearing plate can then be filled with concrete of grout. The bearing plate is fastened to the floor with concrete screws. When you say you used 7 bags to make that footing, how much was that?

tooter After removing the columns I used the grinder and sledge hammer to flatten out the portion of the columns still embedded in the floor. I was impressed by the Lally Lock structural column and how easy it was to install, and especially grateful that I did not need to jack up the house to get the column foofer. I heard that there was a little moisture on the floor the remedy of which I will discuss laterwas informed by the home inspector that the insulation fitted in between the floor upstairs joists was installed up side down which I already fixed and some of the mortar joints needed to be finished.
I dug it about one and a half feet deep.

I believe they were 80lb lallj. Sometimes things are better left alone. Thread these screws down until you feel them hit the footing. Believe it or not, this wall is perfectly level in every direction. Thanks for sharing your experience!
Fasten with the four hex head screws. Each one had a great tight fit. You can get quite freaked out by all the squeaking that the wood does when it is jacked up. For the last column, I decided to try fopter hand at building fotoer cement block wall. The Lally Lock System provided adequate new support to the house and was much easier to install than standard lally column replacements. Well, it was pouring outside on a Saturday night when I got a phone call in the middle of a ball game saying that my foundation wall just caved in can you help us out.

A standard lally column is the round thin-walled structural steel columns that provide support to beams or timbers stretching over long spans. I also made sure the form was perfectly level. We bored holes in the floor and determined that the footing were still in acceptable condition. The home inspector suggested adding 2 additional beams and installing lallly colums to support those.
